College Basketball Viewers Guide - 1/21 thru 1/27
Topic: CBB 1/21 - 1/27

Here it is.  What to watch in that week waiting for the Super Bowl or the NHL All-Star Game.  Well, I'll watch the All-Star Game.  Anyways...

Monday

Syracuse at Georgetown, 7pm (ESPN HD) - Big Monday and, historically, the Big East's biggest rivalry game.

Tuesday

Utah at New Mexico, 9pm (The mtn.) - The start of the MWC elimination matches.  Over 2/3rds of the conference has a legit shot at the conference regular season title.

Wednesday

Massachusetts at Rhode Island, 7pm (CN8) - A-10 is strong this year, but a fair amount of games between UMass, URI, Dayton & Xavier will find them beating up on each other and it might cost the conference an at-large.

San Diego St. at BYU, 8pm (The mtn.) - SDSU leads the conference, BYU had a decent non-conference profile.  The MWC will beat up on each other unless someone breaks away.

N. Carolina at Miami (FL), 9pm (ESPN HD) - Miami (FL) gets ranked, then loses and loses the ranking.  I wouldn't expect them to be ranked by the time this game is played.  UNC is UNC, they are #1 and that really means...nothing since we decide championship on the court.

Thursday

Dayton at Xavier, 8pm (CSTV) - Both teams should remain ranked coming into this game

UCLA at Oregon, 10:30pm (FSN) - UCLA rolling along, best in the west.  Oregon is the next team on the horizon to challenge them.  So far its UCLA, then WSU, then...who knows who is the 3rd best PAC-10 team.  The depth in the conference is so good, but there's a definite "top-heavy" feel to the conference.

Saturday

Gonzaga at Memphis, 12pm (ESPN) - Probably the best non-Big Six programs out there.  Gonzaga is still the best non-BCS, but really needs this win as their games against ranked teams have been losses and the WCC may not provide them a challenge.  Memphis will be a top seed, but they need another game for their season profile.

UNLV at San Diego St, 4pm (Versus) - 1st place vs. 2nd in the MWC.  Generally if you finish out the season in one of those two spots, you go dancing.

Washington St. at Arizona St., 7pm (FSN AZ & FSN NW) - Washington St. was expected to be great this year.  No one expected Arizona St. to be rolling and picking off PAC-10 wins.  Herb Sendek has ASU turned around.
